HOW TO CHOOSE

Where to start if you've never skied from a helicopter

Heliskiing has a reputation for being difficult and extreme — that's a common misconception. Heliskiing is easier than resort freeriding on chopped-up snow: we fly to untracked snow, and it forgives mistakes. The guide picks runs to suit the group, and a little off-piste experience is enough. You can try it in a single day in Krasnaya Polyana or Arkhyz. If you have a week — Baikal opens the season in November and we finish in Chile in August.
